What is Contemporary?

Contemporary dance is one of the most expressive dance forms, drawing from multiple disciplines including ballet, modern, and jazz. At NSOS, our contemporary program emphasizes the connection between emotion, breath, and movement — creating dancers who speak through their bodies.

Our classes explore floorwork, partnering, improvisation, and choreographic tools. Students are challenged to find their authentic movement voice while developing the technical skills to execute complex spatial and dynamic concepts safely and artistically.
